Lancôme and the Louvre Museum have partnered to create a fall beauty collection. “The collaboration highlights the diversity of beauty forms found in the Louvre collections, a dialogue between cultures and civilizations that transcends time and geography” says Louvre president-director Laurence des Cars said in a release
The campaign ambassadors, such as the Venus de Milo, Nymph With a Scorpion, and Diana of Gabii, allow the Louvre to transport iconic and inspiring classical images and compare them with contemporary images and canons. Laurence des Cars, Louvre president-director, expressed delight in the collaboration and the opportunity to create products that are both beautiful and functional.
The limited edition collection features four L’Absolu Rouge Matte lipsticks, an updated version of the Advanced Génifique serum, and a Richelieu Wing face and eye shadow palette. Each is adorned with a classic piece from Paris’s museum, with the Celestial Rose lipstick featuring a sculpture by Lemoyne Saint Paul.
The Louvre campaign features Zendaya, Aya Nakamura, Amanda Seyfried, and He Cong as ambassadors of the collaboration. For Zendaya, the star was photographed alongside two famous ancient Greek sculptures: the Winged Victory of Samothrace and the Venus of Arles, symbolizing victory and love respectively.
According to Zendaya, “To me, [Samothrace’s] posture demonstrates a confident and victorious woman.’ Adding, “A powerful symbol of achievement. And that’s what true beauty is: drawing on our own story to give ourselves wings, a way to empower ourselves.”
