The 2022 MTV VMAs honored Nicki Minaj, a native of Queens, with the Video Vanguard honor on August 28. The rapper, who has given us songs throughout the years including “Anaconda,” “Itty Bitty Piggy,” and “Your Love,” deserves the historic accolade. With curled pink hair that evoked memories of 2010 all over again, she performed a number of her hits, both recent and classic, to accept the prize.
We weren’t surprised to see Nicki dressed entirely in pink for her performance because any Barb knows that she practically invented the color. Nicki lit up the stage while dazzling in a bedazzled corset covered in a rainbow of pink diamonds, a matching flared miniskirt covered in gems and pearls, and fishnet tights. She accessorized with a huge bow that sat perfecly atop her wavy pink hair, giving her appearance an additional boost.
With a bedecked bodice studded with stones of varying sizes, this dress already screamed 2010 enough.
She wore a half-up, half-down ponytail with her butt-length hair pulled back in a slick back manner. You might want to reconsider your belief that the pink was finished there. To the base of her ponytail, a baby pink bow was added. We’re adoring every every inch of this pink hair that looks like bubblegum from the Pink Friday period.
It was difficult to see her manicure while she was singing, but we were able to clearly see her extremely long stiletto nails as she made her acceptance speech. These pointed pink tips are covered with dazzling gems, giving off the impression that her nail technician intended to match her outfit with this manicure.
