Eight years after bidding farewell to the screen—and to her beloved Suits character, Rachel Zane—Meghan Markle is stepping once again into the spotlight. The Duchess of Sussex, who left acting in 2017 following her engagement to Prince Harry, is reportedly making a surprise return to film with a cameo in Close Personal Friends, a forthcoming comedy currently shooting in Los Angeles.

According to Variety, Markle will appear as herself alongside an ensemble cast that includes Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding. Directed by Jason Orley—the mind behind Big Time Adolescence—the film follows a “regular” couple whose vacation to Santa Barbara leads to an unlikely friendship with a celebrity duo. Naturally, social boundaries blur, and the resulting chaos promises to deliver both humor and heart. Markle was recently spotted on set in Pasadena, exuding her signature polished elegance.

The cameo marks a full-circle moment for the former actor, who first gained international recognition through Suits before transitioning into royal life and global philanthropy. “It’s a new chapter, right?” Markle once reflected on her decision to step away from acting. “I’ve ticked this box and feel very proud of the work I’ve done there.”

Since then, she’s redefined what it means to be a modern multi-hyphenate. Through Archewell Productions—her joint venture with Prince Harry—Markle has executive produced acclaimed Netflix projects like Harry & Meghan, Heart of Invictus, and Live to Lead. Her lifestyle docuseries With Love, Meghan recently returned for its second season, with a holiday special set to premiere this December.

Now, with her cinematic reemergence, Montecito’s most captivating creative appears poised to bridge her two worlds—Hollywood and humanitarianism—once again. Meghan Markle isn’t just returning to acting; she’s reclaiming her narrative, one frame at a time.
