Arriving at the museum’s iconic Urban Light installation, the award-winning performer stunned in a Schiaparelli couture gown that quite literally watched the room. Designed by Daniel Roseberry for the house’s Autumn/Winter 2025 collection, the strapless masterpiece was embroidered with a constellation of three-dimensional eyes, hand-detailed with pearls, metallic thread, and crystals. Each eye appeared to follow her every move—an optical illusion that blended whimsy, art, and surrealist tradition in true Schiaparelli fashion.
The gown’s sculptural winged bodice unfolded into cascading panels of sheer tulle, flowing behind her like a delicate cape. Styled by Jason Bolden, Erivo completed the look with David Yurman diamond earrings and towering silver Christian Louboutin heels, adding a futuristic shimmer to an otherwise dreamlike ensemble.
Her glam followed suit: a sleek, luminous complexion, graphic liner to echo the dress’s motif, and a cropped platinum cut that gave the entire look a modern edge.
Sponsored by Gucci, this year’s LACMA Gala—founded in 2011—once again united the worlds of art, film, and fashion to raise funds for the museum’s film initiatives. The evening honored visual artist Mary Corse and filmmaker Ryan Coogler, and saw appearances from Elle Fanning, Emma Roberts, Cindy Crawford, and Lorde.
Among the constellation of stars, Cynthia Erivo’s surrealist couture moment stood as a work of living art—a reminder that fashion, at its most daring, can be both statement and spectacle.
