This week, Lady Amelia Spencer Lady, the daughter of Princess Diana’s brother and the younger sister of Lady Kitty Spencer got hitched. The lucky groom? Greg Mallett, her partner of 14 years both exchanged vows in a beautiful mountainside ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa. Her bespoke Atelier Versace gown was fit for royalty, but it also had a touching connection to her late aunt.
According to the outlets, the bride’s chic gown had silk rebrodé lace, an eight-foot train, Swarovski crystals, a hand-embroidered neckline, structured shoulders, and elaborate floral design. It took 2.5 months to produce the full ensemble.
Lady Eliza Spencer, the bride’s twin sister, also wore a Versace gown: a custom pale pink silk slip dress. Amelia’s older sister Lady Kitty Spencer wore a Dolce & Gabbana outfit as a bridesmaid. Both the model’s mother, Victoria Lockwood, and her brother, Samuel Aitken, were also in attendance. Due to her father’s absence, Amelia was escorted down the aisle by her brother, Samuel.
“I think [Diana] would be very proud to see me on my wedding day,” Amelia told the publication. “I know the Versace family also absolutely love Diana, so there’s a very special connection that we have.” Adding, “I’m the luckiest girl in the world. It’s honestly the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen. It’s been the happiest experience working with Versace. Every single member of their team were like angels.”
According to Hello, the wedding took place on a mountainside at Quoin Rock Manor House. Given of its relevance to their love story, the couple decided to travel to Cape Town, South Africa. Amelia tells the outlet “It means so much to get married here.” Adding, “Growing up here together for the last 14 years, all of mine and Greg’s happiest times as a couple are here. It’s even more special now.”
