Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will soon be compelled to leave their last high-security residence in the United Kingdom.
The couple’s formal abode in the United Kingdom, located at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate, has been taken away by King Charles III. The king has apparently given the residence to his disgraced younger brother Prince Andrew instead. Prince Andrew was stripped by the late Queen Elizabeth II after Virginia Giuffre, a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein, claimed that he had molested her while she was a minor.
The Sussexes have only a few weeks to depart their former residence, which is protected by the Met’s Royalty and Specialist Protection Unit. Even though Harry and Meghan travel with their own personal security team, Frogmore Cottage has access to royal protection personnel who can provide them with vital intelligence data deemed crucial for other royals.
The Sovereign Grant, a fund financed by British taxpayers and used to finance the royal family and its official efforts, has paid the $3.1 million the couple spent renovating Frogmore Cottage since they moved from the United Kingdom to California. They apparently also paid a sizable payment to the Royal Estate to cover the house’s rent for the near future.
Their eviction occurs nearly two months after Harry published his explosive memoir, Spare, in which he details disturbing disclosures that ultimately prompted him to decide to resign as a senior royal. In the book, there are allegations of a lifelong conflict with Prince William, the chilly bond between Princess Kate and Meghan, and Charles and Queen Camilla’s involvement in spreading false information to the media.
