Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher’s awkward poses in promo photos for their movie Your Place or Mine had everyone on the internet, including Mila Kunis, in stitches. On Monday’s TODAY show, Witherspoon said that in an email addressed to her and Kutcher, Kunis made fun of the costars’ red-carpet press tour images (Witherspoon made this claim in conversation with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.)
Reese revealed that she has known Mila for a lot longer than she has known Ashton and talked about their ongoing interaction since the actress joined the production.
“Every time time he’d wear a funny outfit I’d text Mila and be like, ‘What is he wearing?’” Witherspoon shared before addressing her and Kutcher’s red carpet photos: “She even emailed us last night. She goes, ‘You guys look so awkward on the red carpet together.’”
Witherspoon continued, “It was just fun to get to know her significant other because I’ve loved her for so long.”
Kunis also shared her thoughts with Kutcher – during a preview of his appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast on February 8, Kutcher says “My wife called me. She texted Reese and I together. She’s like, ‘Guys, you gotta, like, act like you each other.’ And I’m like, ‘What’s going on?'”
The actor continued, “Here’s the thing: If I put my arm around her and was, like, all friendly with her, I’d be having an affair with her—the rumor would be that I’m having an affair with her.”
“Reese and I are really good friends, we’re really close,” he concluded. “I don’t have to defend that.”
It all began on February 2 at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles, when Netflix’s Your Place or Mine had its world debut. While attempting to smile for photos there, Witherspoon and Kutcher appeared clearly uncomfortable.
Although they have been great friends since they began filming, the two have continued to promote their movie for the past week.
