Tiwa Savage Wore These Nigerian Designers for ‘CELIA’ Album

Nigeria-born Afrobeats singer-songwriter Tiwa Savage, for her CELIA album wore stunning designs by Nigerian designers. Not too long ago the singer featured on billboard were she talked on how Afrobeats has helped introduce African culture to a wider, mainstream audience. It onlyright that she also showcases the rich African fashion along with her music.

For the Celia album,wore the big names of Nigerian fashion brands like Deola Sagoe, Tokyo James, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi among others. Styled by Daniel Obasi and Temitope Uduak , makeup and hair was done by Tolani and Pandora’s Glam respectively.

Banke Kuku

Tiwa savage wore Banke Kuku’s signature Parrot print oversized Pyjamas in 3 scenes for the Koroba music video. Owned by renowned Nigerian fashion designer Banke Kuku aka Queen of Color, the brand promotes African culture and tradition through its eclectic bespoke woven and printed fabrics.

Tiwa Savage wore a vintage themed corset dress for the Koroba video. The bold red look was paired with a matching fedora hat. The Nigerian-British fashion designer Tokyo James is part of a new wave of multicultural creatives that challenges the visual perception of Africa.

Wearing AW19 JAZA BLAZER MINI DRESS by Bridget Awosika, Tiwa Savage was a sight for sore eyes. Awsika’s aesthetic designs makes use of “modern shapes, asymmetry, clean lines, cuts, draping and intricate details”.

The style statement gele –  traditional Nigerian Headwrap was paired with blue ruffled blouse by Turfah in the Koroba music video. Owned by Tola Adegbite sister (younger) of Reni Folawiyo, who is owner of Alara Concept Store, the name Turfah was coined from her 2nd name, which is an Arabic name given to girls and actually translates to mean “Blessings” “Good things of Life” “Luxuries” “Rare Gem”.

Deola Sagoe

 Tiwa wore Deola Sagoe’s Komole Iro. Deola who has been paving the way of high fashion since 1989 is the first black woman to present a collection at AltaRoma.
