Style Temple is a household name in the fashion industry. Founded by Ogugua Okonkwo, the fashion house opened its doors for business – November 2012. The brand aesthetics is a combination of classic yet modern fashion.

Who is Ogugua Okonkwo?

Ogugua Okonkwo comes from a family of five. With two siblings – raised in Enugu, Nigeria, her creativity was influenced by both parents. Fashion wasn’t her first choice, however, Og as she’s fondly called by friends finished from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2008 – obtaining a B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science. She practiced for some time at the State House Clinic in Abuja for some time before taking a career in fashion illustration. Ogugua worked as an associate designer for other brands before quitting to start up her own.

Today with an Experience Center located at Abuja, Style Temple almost didn’t become a reality. When the decision was made to launch the fashion house Ogugua had no savings but took a leap of faith. Going for necessary trainings and forging the right partnerships Style Temple was born.

Ogugua Okonkwo finds a way to balance femineity and edginess with its designs. Style Temple constantly making a change in how fashion is perceived in Nigeria. Due to the brands inclusivity, it caters to and celebrates exceptional women disregarding ethnic backgrounds. The brand uses a mixture of structured wearable pieces with a couture edge. Designs are meant to flatter and accentuate

Og’s favorite jobs of the day revolves around styling brides. Style Temple specializes in bridal wears, statement tuxedos and trousers. The fashion label has a long list of famous clienteles: Toke Makinwa, Stephanie Coker, Kiki Osinbajo etc.

She is an awardee of the future Awards Africa Prize for Fashion (2010) and Ebony Life Sisterhood Award Prize for Fashion (2017).

Her designs have been showcased in Lagos Fashion Week. Featured by Elle, Vogue, Glamour etc. Og recently got a feature on Beyonce’s website “The Black parade” to support black owned business.
