The head-ties in Nigeria are known as gele and can be large and elaborate. They are made of a firmer material and cover a woman’s entire hair and ears, with the only exposed part being her face and earrings. In Ghana, opportunity to wear a duku usually falls on a religious day of Friday, Saturday or Sunday, depending on whether the wearers are Muslim, Seventh-Day Adventists or Sunday church-going Christians. It’s clear that head gele’s are key to the cultural attiretheme, and here are some of our favourite ones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
