Her latest offering, Aka\u1ecdr\u1ee5\u0304<\/strong><\/em> \u2014 the Igbo word for “handwork” \u2014 is not merely a seasonal collection. It is a 23-look treatise on what Nigerian craftsmanship is worth, and what it will take to keep it alive<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agu did not begin this collection with sketches. She began with residencies \u2014 hosting a painter in her home for weeks, returning to wood-carving workshops she had not visited since childhood, studying hand-weaving techniques in a country where textile infrastructure has been quietly eroding for two decades<\/p>\n\n\n\n
