Naomi Campbell debuted a collection with fast-fashion brand PrettyLittleThing in New York City, days before the Spring-Summer 2024 show calendar. The collection featured a daringly sheer black halter neck maxi dress with crystalline detailing, which Campbell walked the runway in. The collection showcased a spectrum of on-trend separates across a high-glam theme, including tailored jumpsuits, blazers, floaty bias-draped gowns, and body-con cocktail dresses.
Partnering with designers Edvin Thompson from Theophilio and Nigeria’s Victor Anate from Vicnate, the collection itself was different style from what Naomi Campbell has been accustomed to over the years.
Talking about her choice of designers, Campbell explained in a statement first announcing the collection last month, “Within my collection, it was important to recognize and include some of the amazing talent that’s out there.” Adding, “I’m very intentional about using my platform to create opportunities for the next generation of creatives.”
Back in 2020 at ARISE Fashion Week, marked supermodel Naomi Campbell made her first appearance on the runway wearing one of the monochromatic silhouettes from Vicnates No4 collection. “She embodies everything the brand stands for,” 20-year-old Anate said of Naomi’s surprise appearance in his show. “It felt great seeing one of the most beautiful and powerful women in the world strut down the runway, and in one of my personal favourite looks.”
Besides Vicnate, Naomi has been championing the cause for Nigerian designers, previously walking the runway shows for Tiffany Amber, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, Mai Atafo, Banke Kuku and Kenneth Ize.
