Burna Boy, who was nominated at 66th GRAMMY Awards, also perfomed at the awards night ddelivering a skilfull blend African and American cultures. He kicked off his performance with his Afrobeats hit “On Form,” then transitioned to 90s hip-hop-influenced cuts from his album I Told Them. He then moved to Brooklyn with “City Boys” and “Sittin’ On Top of the World.”
For the performance, Burna boy opted for a look from 3.PARADISE “The Sun Doesn’t Shine in the Shade” AW24 collection. The collection itself explored the human inner conflict between ego and humility, contrasting personal glory, wealth and success with the desire for collective prosperity. Burna boy wore baggy jackets ardoned with Swarokski crystals over a white soffice shirt and tie. He also matched with a similar pair of pants, complete with timberlands and a baseball cap.
His performance marked a milestone for African pop music and a major coup for Afro pop representation, highlighting the triumph of African artists at the GRAMMYs.
