Tyla Takes The Peakaboo Boxers For A Spin

Wait a minute, is Tyla wearing double pants? For her Alo event earlier this month the star wore pants that demanded a double take. The trippy style, which resembles wearing two pants on top of each other, was in fact a pair of low rise baggy pants with a pair of blue peekaboo boxers.

Featuring two waistbands, Tyla’s pièce de résistance logo splashed boxer shorts have surprisingly been in trend for some time. The “sagging” aka peakaboo trend, introduced between the ’90s and early Y2K, was primarily worn by hip-hop icons and fans. It was characterized by baggy and low-rise jeans. In 2021, Winnie Harlow ignited a resurgence of nineties streetwear with her bold fashion choices at the Fashion Awards. Her iconic look, featuring branded baggy jeans and logo boxer shorts, quickly became a symbol of the era. This trend not only gained popularity but also sparked a 58% increase in searches for low-rise jeans. High-end designers such as Tom Ford, Off-White, Versace, and Fear of God jumped on the bandwagon, embracing the nostalgic style. Prada and MSGM even showcased formal wide leg trousers with a unique double waistband detail. Balenciaga took it a step further by infusing nineties-era futurism into their throwback aesthetic, combining skater-style baggy jeans with Matrix-inspired overcoats, oversized sunglasses, and cropped tops.

Tyla finished off the rest of her 90s-esque outfit with a runched top held together by just a singled button and a cropped buttoned up shirt layered over it. She kept her styling simple, wearing a few chunky gold rings.
