What a way to kick off the Lagos Fashion Week. After a three-year hiatus, Mai Atafo returned for his crown at The Eko Hotels Nigeria with his Spring/Summer 2024 Collection, ‘Sartorial Reverie’.
With over 800 guests, Mai found a way to give everyone a front-row experience with large HD TVs showcasing every detail of the model’s attire and catwalk and a runway path that ran through the sections of the seating arrangement.
The collection was a masterfully stated rework and modification of the staple pieces of clothing that we adore and rely on: tailored pants, dresses, traditional wear, etc. Divided into three sections (traditional Edo wear, wedding and classic wear), there were unconventional combinations of fabrics that suited the tastes of the present generation.
ATAFO also included his signature designs in both menswear and womenswear featuring formal silhouettes tailored to perfection. Menswear featured formal ATAFO designs like “schaket” and “tradxedo,” while womenswear introduced a feminine blend of modern and traditional Nigerian elements.
