Mr. Eazi Displays An Outstanding Art Space at The 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair

Aside music, Mr Eazi has also championed the world of art. Tagged the “Evil Genius”, the international afrobeats star curated the art pieces that got displayed in Accra, Ghana and and London as part of the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair’s special projects.

The 1-54 itself was founded in 2013 by Touria El Glaoui as the first international fair dedicated to contemporary African art. With three annual editions in London, New York, and Marrakech and a pop-up fair in Paris, it is the leading global art fair promoting diverse perspectives and evolving interpretations of the diasporic experience. The fair features leading international galleries, artist talks, panel discussions, and a Special Projects program referencing the fifty-four African countries.

The ‘The Evil Genius’ collection is a unique blend of African art and music, commissioned by Nigerian recording artist Mr Eazi, featuring 16 pieces corresponding to his upcoming album (of same name).

As one of the eight featured artists from different African countries, each brought their own styles and approaches. For Eazi, while recording an album from Ghana to Rwanda, he recognized the gap between Africa’s music industry and fine arts. He aimed to enhance the album’s story and highlight African art by incorporating their work.

The collection highlights the vibrant growth of modern African art and provides a look into the rich fabric of African culture. The vivid and bold paintings and detailed drawings demonstrate the vast spectrum of African inventiveness and resourcefulness, making it a must-see for everyone interested in modern art.
