Nigeria to the world!! Since the world had a taste of the afrobeats it has never had its fill. And for the 2023 MET Gala BurnaBoy and Tems made history as the first Nigerians to attend fashion exclusive biggest night.

The annual event this year commemorated the exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, while the gala honoured Lagerfeld’s legacy – the late designer who oversaw fashion brands such as Chanel, Fendi, Burberry, Gucci and his own namesake line. The dress code included various interpretations and adherence to the subject in three different ways, a Karl archival look, a “modern-day” outfit from Chanel or Fendi, and also a look with his favorite black and white hue.

For the event, Tems showed up in a show stopping piece from Robert Wun which included a dramatic headpiece. The corset look has a long, weeping train. Plus her avante garde evening gloves added a whole new level of sophistication with the mathching petal appliques. For footwear, Tems opted for white pumps.
You’d definitely have to give Dusin Wright the credit she so much deserves. While the piece was all renaissance in front, the back had a risque detail. Makeup was kept minimal to keep all the focus on her look.
Burnaboy looked dapper in a head-to-toe Burberry look consisting of matching shirt and pants. What gets our attentionis the flowery knot applique on the side of the shirt. The look also had an embellished feel with his dreads properly groomed and neat.
What can we say? We can’t just wait for what these duo and other celebrated Nigerians have to offer the world.
