The Top 10 CollectionOf The 2020 ARISE Fashion Week

ARISE Fashion Week 2020, is no doubt one of the biggest fashion events in Nigeria and permit me to brag a little – in Africa. For its 2020 event, tp African designers showcased line ups from their respective Spring/Summer 2021 collection.

Held virtually, the event was star packed with the likes of supermodel –  Naomi CampbellWizkidWurldWavy the CreatorThe Cavemen etc. Known for breaking records, ARISE Fashion Week had raised the ante even further by celebrating a new brand of designers – ‘30 under 30’ with a cash prize of $500,000 to be shared amongst the winners. This technically puts Nigeria and the African continent on the map, birthing next generation fashion designers from Africa.

While the winner has obviously gone home with the prize money, we at LEURR decided to list our top ten (10) designs from the just concluded event. Drum rolls please!!

1. Olanaja

2. Mmuso Maxwell

MMUSOMAXWELL is a ready to wear high end women’s-wear brand That creates garments inspired by African heritage and contemporary culture with a particular emphasis on tailoring to complement modern woman, accentuating detail, practicality and wear ability through a well considered design process that gives a sense of value and quality.

The fashion brand is based in Johannesburg South Africa, founded in 2016 by Maxwell Boko and Mmuso Potsane.

3. TJWHO

TJWHO is a new line of menswear clothing suited for the cultured modern man. The clothing brand offers a refreshing take of native and urban basics by exploring African, European and Japanese references.

4. Ziva Lagos

Founded by Tania Omotayo., Ziva Lagos aims to make fashion attainable by boosting the confidence of the everyday woman with trendy pieces created by an in house team of incredibly talented illustrators, designers and tailors.

Their line up can take you from everyday to the runway, a board meeting or even something as simple as drinks with your girls on a Friday night.

Pepper Row follows worldwide developments in interior design closely. That inspiration is translated into our designs, which are then realised by experienced craftsmen.

7. Ladunni Lambo

Ladunni Lambo was launched in 2016 – a ready-to-wear fashion brand made in Nigeria. The brand is quickly attaining awareness through its distinctive unification of cultural motifs and modern silhouettes. Through design details such as synched-waists, statement sleeves, and high waisted trousers, Lambo looks to depict women as unforgettable and illustrious.

8. Mazelle Studio

Mazelle Studio, founded by Mariam Afolabi, uses its brand signature of Adire mix and sharp silhouettes are oftentimes met with sequins, shimmer, femme-inspired fabric, and clever use of embellishments delicately hand-beaded unto quality fabrics.

9. Fruche

Fruché was founded in 2014 by Frank Aghuno. The brand aims to explore rich, historical, futuristic and modern progressive stories that challenge the notion that Nigeran/African women and men are expected to look and dress a certain way.

10. CLAN

The CLAN is just a little bit of everything: Fun, serious, simple, stylish and every synonym in-between young and fashionable. Owned by Teni, Aba and Tiwa Sagoe, sisters and daughters of renowned fashion designer Deola Sagoe, the label comes with a fresh and irreverent style, for edgy, style-conscious girls and guys who like to stay ahead of the fashion curve.
