In a statement by the brand, “Ohene Mantse aims to be a strong defender of sustainability and transparency in the fashion sector, most of their tie-dye was made by him, in collaboration with independent women artisans from Ghana.

The brand believes that respect is something you earn, therefore your surroundings and the people around you need to be respected.

Inspired by the vibrant colors of Africa and represents style and quality, Johnson Martey – founder worked directly with independent tie-dye women to ensure direct salaries from the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organic fabrics, such as cotton and silk, were used throughout the entire collection coloured through natural dyes.

Creating a parade of paste and neutral toned – tending to remind one of the rise and setting of the sun, the collection was also inspired by the rich cultural crossbreeding and the raw and sunny Dixcove community settings.

Dixcove is a coastal village in the Ahanta West district, a district in the Western Region of South Ghana. The village complete freedom through vast landscapes and the life of the pulsating communities in Ghana heavily influenced the collection, hence the tittle – Freedom of Imagination.

According to the brand, Freedom of Imagination SS20/21 Collection “is inspired by nature and is meant to transmit power, energy, and freedom. Having the freedom to your own imagination reinvigorates your mind, body & soul. View the endless sea and the blue sky merged into a horizon to create stunning visuals.”
