A fashion piece made with Asooke – a locally woven material sits as the centre of attraction of the Bola Yahaya’s metamorphosis. The fabric was made upcycled deadstock fabrics turned into tie-dye while leaning towards zero-waste designs through pattern drafting and fabric draping.

According to the brand, the Metamorphosis collection calls to attention the dangers of rapid urbanization and its adverse effects on the humans and its environment. “Drawing inspiration from the cycle of the butterfly, the Metamorphosis collection calls to attention the dangers of rapid urbanization and its adverse effects on the humans and its environment. Trees and nature give way to new buildings. On the other end, urban lifestyles tend to be consumptive and as such, they require great natural resources and generate large amounts of waste which leads to increased levels of air, water and soil pollution.”

“While our joy radiating butterflies may seem to be lost in the pouch of adulthood difficulties, our environment lies largely on its occupants in saving it.”
